How to Make Good First Impression

Making a good first impression is incredibly important, because you can’t make a good first impression the second time. Researchers have found that a first impression is made within the first seven seconds after you meet someone and they will most likely never change that. When you meet someone for the first time, they are taking a rapid inventory of your gait, your smile, your handshake, and how you present yourself. Everyone has good and bad sides, but how to make people see your good side or better side or best side?

You can’t make a good first impression the second time.

#1. Set an intention beforehand

The most important thing for any activity is to set your intention. This means positively think and visualize what kind of impression you want to make?; what kind of interaction you want to have? Having an intention beforehand works really well and help you focus on what kind of energy you want to have for the event.

#2. Dress appropriately for the occasion

From your shoes to hair styles, people definitely take note of these things when making judgements and dressing appropriately for the occasion is very important when making your first impression. Make sure that what you are wearing and how you do your hair or makeup says what you want it to say to the people you are meeting for the first time. So, dress appropriately for the occasion.

#3. Body Language

Watch the body language as body language is a crucial part of first impressions. Smile when you are talking and meeting: genuine smiles are a winning ticket for creating a great first impression. HAve a firm handshake and purposeful eye contact. Stand tall and be proud of who you are. Be humble, and don't forget your manners: Good manners and being humble always leave a great first impression.

#4. Be on time

Nothing shoots you down faster than being late for an initial meeting. Always give yourself more than enough time, allowing for traffic delays or parking hassle. Always be on time or a little early.

#5. Keep it positive

Your upbeat positive attitude will definitely make for a great first impression. Remember that no one can make you sad or inferior without your permission. So, not to worry if someone upsets you. You always keep a positive mentality. There is no defeat in anything; either we win or learn.

#6. Be interested and interesting

If you are truly interested in meeting people and if you are open to learning about who they are, they will get this in a first impression. So, be interested and interesting. Approach people with genuine interest in who they are, what they do? Lean into the conversation - body language again - to communicate that you are really listening and interested.

#7. Treat everyone with respect

Always respect people; it doesn't matter who they are and what their level is. You might have heard the Maya Angelou’ quotation that "People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel." How you make the other person feel during the course of your conversation is more important So, making a first impression is a very crucial skill and making a good first impression sets the scene for how a person continues to perceive you.
